We want you to talk to your children about what they’ve learned in Hip Hop Stroke and Hip Hop HEALS (Healthy Eating And Living in Schools).
For example, do you know your child’s calorie number? Do you know what to look for on the menu boards in New York City restaurants?
Ask your child why he/she suddenly wants the grilled chicken sandwich instead of the crispy chicken sandwich. Ask what Go, Slow, and Whoa foods are—why does your child now say WHOA! when offered that milkshake?
Do you know the five signs of stroke? Do you know that there is a powerful drug that can reverse these signs of stroke and do you know the name of this drug?
Ask your child to teach you what to look for in the event of a stroke! The information that he/she learned in Hip Hop Stroke could save your life.

Goals of Hip Hop Public Health
Hip Hop Public Health aims to create innovative and culturally tailored health literacy programs that are policy relevant and evidence-based. Through exciting and interactive programs in schools, we communicate information on stroke and nutrition to children and their parents, guardians, and grandparents by encouraging student participants to share what they’ve learned in our programs with those that they love.
